Meet the Artist – Anne-Marie Byrne

Anne-Marie is a Suffolk based artist. She qualified as an archaeologist, then spent many years buried in an office before finally digging up her artistic roots when a public art trail came to Ipswich in 2016.  Since then, Anne-Marie has painted for many art charity trails across the UK – including a lion disguised as a tiger, sun bears and flying hares, a prehistoric giraffe, a biker bee, an underwater gorilla, a superhero wallaby, a Monty Python Gumby cow and a veritable herd of sporting, magical, nautical and holiday-themed elephants. Other public art projects include a firefighter’s helmet, racing ducks, two otters for the Moor Otters trails in Dartmoor, and a Van Gogh inspired Jaguar car bonnet that was driven all the way to Monte Carlo and back.
Auctions of Anne-Marie’s painted sculptures have so far raised over £135,000 for the various charities.
When not drawing and painting, Anne-Marie loves to read, write stories and travel (covid- permitting!), taking photographs along the way to provide future inspiration.
